1st Course in Stomatherapy took place on the 8th March at the Hospital Particular do Algarve in Gambelas on the 8th March. This course carried out in partnership with The Algarve Patients Association, is divided into five modules (always on a Saturday) and aims to provide and inform health professionals on the latest techniques which are currently in practice in the treatment of ostomates patients.
Professionals specializing in this field of medicine from several of the most prestigious hospitals in the country will be attending each module of the course. This 1st module dealt with the causes which may lead to ostomy as well as the associated surgical techniques. The speakers were Dr. Paulo Sousa, Filipe Guerra and José Manuel Gomes, all medical specialists practicing at the HPA.
